Creative team building through beadwork

CORPORATE BEADWORK WORKSHOPS IN OTTAWA

Make something together. Connect along the way.

Workshop participants create beadwork together during a hands-on group session.

Bring your team together for a welcoming, hands-on beadwork workshop led by Ottawa-based Ojibwe artist Kaytlyn Nadjiwon, founder of Indigenous-owned Soft But Sturdy Beadwork.

Designed for staff retreats, team-building days, and employee engagement events, these beginner-friendly workshops offer a chance to slow down, learn something new, and connect through the shared experience of creating.

With step-by-step guidance, room for creativity, and all materials provided, each workshop is thoughtfully adapted to your group's needs.

MAKE something together

Participants learn and create side by side, with room for conversation and individual creativity. These workshops work well for staff retreats, team-building days, and onboarding, giving colleagues time to learn a new skill and make something together.

Community & nonprofit workshops

I’m especially interested in working with organizations whose values align with mine.

If you’re part of a nonprofit, registered charity, or grassroots community group, I’d love to hear about your work and explore whether a beadwork workshop could be a good fit.

A limited number of reduced-rate workshops may be available, depending on the project, budget, and schedule.

What Beadwork Has Taught Me

In my workshops, your team steps out of the usual pressure to solve and produce. I guide everyone through a beginner beadwork project from my own perspective and practice. With your hands busy, there’s room to slow down and be in the moment. Beadwork helps me quiet my mind, and I’ve found that quiet can make room for fresh ideas. I bring that unhurried feeling into the workshop, without any pressure to get it perfect.

Beadwork connects me to my culture and has taught me that teaching a skill can also be a shared experience. In my workshops, I carry that forward by sharing what I’ve learned and helping participants find confidence in their own work.

In June 2025, The Ottawa Hospital invited Kaytlyn to lead a beading workshop for Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ staff and their allies: a collaboration between the hospital's Indigenous Employee Network and Pride Community@TOH. Over two hours, participants filled a boardroom with conversation, laughter, and colourful seed beads, leaving with both a handmade piece and a take-home kit to continue at their own pace.

The Ottawa Hospital documented the experience in a full photo essay, capturing what happens when people slow down, make something with their hands, and let their guard down together.
